Honoring a Trailblazer
Eddie Bernice Johnson, a former U.S. Representative, was a pioneering figure in American politics, a staunch advocate for STEM education, and a relentless fighter against inequity. Her legacy continues to inspire and drive our mission at The Eddie Bernice Johnson Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (INCLUDES) Initiative, which was officially renamed in her honor in August 2022 under the CHIPS and Science Act.
Tragically, Rep. Johnson passed away on December 31, 2023. President Joe Biden recognized her immense contributions and the indelible mark she left on our nation.
