Shared Measures

The NSF Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES National Network Shared Measures Platform documents the progress that INCLUDES National Network members are making to align their work using collaborative infrastructure strategies. It also shares possible indicators to measure changes to practice that can  broaden participation in STEM education and careers. This information will be useful for those who want to learn about the characteristics and collective progress of the INCLUDES National Network. For more information about this refined approach, read our blog article “Understanding and Measuring Systems Change.”

Findings from surveys of INCLUDES National Network members are also summarized in the following issue briefs:

Refining the Shared Measures Framework

Working in partnership with INCLUDES National Network members, the INCLUDES Coordination Hub refined the Shared Measures Framework to address four key features of the INCLUDES National Network:

  1. Scale of INCLUDES Partners and Programs: The number of people reached and partners engaged as collected through the INCLUDES Partners and Programs Annual Survey.
  1. Adopting Collaborative Infrastructure: The degree to which INCLUDES National Network members are leveraging shared vision, partnerships, aligned goals and metrics, strong leadership and communications, and strategies for expansion, sustainability, and scale as collected through the INCLUDES National Network Annual Survey.
  1. Creating Systems Change: The way(s) in which INCLUDES National Network members are advancing six conditions for systems change, including policy, practices, resource flows, relationships and connections, power dynamics and mental models as collected through the INCLUDES National Network Annual Survey.
  1. Broadening Participation: The progress of underrepresented communities along educational journeys toward STEM employment, whether as educators or in other sectors as collected through the INCLUDES Broadening Participation Annual Survey.

Starting in early 2025, information will be posted on a refreshed Shared Measures Platform, which will also feature examples of how INCLUDES National Network members are furthering systems change and broadening participation in STEM.
