The NSF Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES Initiative is a comprehensive, national effort designed to enhance U.S. leadership in discovery and innovation by focusing on diversity, inclusion, and broadening participation in STEM at scale. Renamed in 2022 under the CHIPS and Science Act, this initiative honors the legacy of the late Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who tirelessly advocated for inclusive opportunities in science for all Americans.
We are committed to creating a more inclusive STEM ecosystem by:
- Connecting: Facilitating relationships and expanding the Network to support members in growing and sustaining their work.
- Curating: Building capacity through shared research, resources, and expertise to engage in systems change.
- Catalyzing: Supporting efforts that create more equitable, diverse, and inclusive STEM fields.
- Building Community: Amplifying the voices of those traditionally excluded from STEM, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
The INCLUDES Initiative has funded more than 200 projects since its inception, forming a dynamic ecosystem of people and projects working collaboratively to transform STEM education and workforce through diverse participation and contributions. By leveraging collaborative infrastructure, we aim to make systemic changes that lead to a more equitable and inclusive STEM enterprise.
Join us in this national movement to broaden participation in STEM by exploring our site, engaging with INCLUDES National Network members, and contributing to our collaborative efforts to develop a STEM workforce representing our nation’s diverse talent.
